What is Agape Moms?

God did not create us to mom alone, he designed us for community. Agape Moms is a missional community that mobilizes moms to live on mission in their everyday, messy, mom-lives. Agape Moms gives Christian moms an avenue to live out the Great Commission in their season of life by giving them a place to invite not-yet believing moms to explore Christ through Bible study, prayer, and the support of a loving, Christ-centered community. Every week, Agape Moms invites moms of all ages and stages to “bring your mess,” but we promise not to leave you in it or glorify it, instead we keep pointing each other back to Jesus in the trenches of motherhood.

What is Agape Moms’ Mission?

Agape Moms’ mission is equipping moms to make disciples, as we live on mission, in everyday, messy, mom-life.

How is Agape Moms distinct from other ministries for mothers?

Agape Moms is different because it is more than just a club for moms, it is both an evangelism and discipleship ministry. Agape Moms equips Christian moms to lead weekly Bible studies, but it doesn’t stop there. Agape Moms also mobilizes all of its members to live on mission for Jesus in their everyday lives, specifically through monthly playdates where we go into the community to have gospel conversations, inviting moms back into our regular gatherings. Agape Moms is a unique community that invites moms to belong before they believe. A mom exploring Jesus for the first time will be welcomed, prayed for, and will learn to study the Bible alongside Christian mothers of all ages and stages.

Tell me about your mantra, “bring your mess?”

We are gospel-centered in everything we do, from the way we gather, the studies we chose, the lens in which we apply Scripture and grow up into Christ. This is good news for those who feel far from God, and those who feel like they struggle to measure up to please God every day. It is only through Christ that we begin and maintain relationship with God, and so we can rest in His finished work for us through his death and resurrection. We can’t earn it and we don’t deserve it, and as we continually embrace God’s unconditional, agape love for us, it changes us from the inside out. At Agape Moms, there's no pretending or performing with us because we've found our answer in Jesus, not in ourselves, and we are kind of obsessed with sharing this news! When we say “Bring you mess” we promise not to leave you in it, or glorify it, but instead we point keep pointing each other back to Jesus in the trenches of motherhood.

WHAT DOES “AGAPE” MEAN?

The New Testament was written in Greek, and this beautiful language has three different words for love. In Greek, “Agape” means unconditional love, and it was primarily shown to us by Christ living the perfect life we could never live and dying the death we deserved to die. Agape love is God’s unconditional love for us and the unconditional love we can have for each other in Jesus- this is the heartbeat of Agape Moms.

What is your discipleship model?

Each Agape Moms chapter is made up of Tiny Tribes that are led by Tiny Tribe leaders and a mentor mom. This is based off of the multigenerational discipleship model for women found in Titus 2:3-5 where we see older women discipling younger women in the context of relationships. The Agape Moms training equips the main Agape Moms leader, Agape Moms Servant Leader Teams Coordinator, Tiny Tribe Leaders and Mentor Moms to launch and lead an Agape Moms ministry from the ground up, whether that’s with a couple women on your couch or a full scale church ministry.

Does Agape Moms have to meet in a church?

Agape Moms has flourished in parks, homes and churches of all sizes in different states and cultural landscapes. The mission remains the same regardless of the number of moms or the location. How do I start an Agape Moms?

If you have a burden for moms to know Christ and want to help mobilize other women to make disciples, let us share the Agape Moms training and structure with you! Agape Moms Training is an online, video driven training series that you will navigate with the “Start an Agape Moms” drop down menu. It includes a 3 session, Biblically-rich training series along with resources to help equip you to make disciples and launch your own Agape Moms chapter. The training is meant to be self-multiplying so you can take other Tiny Tribe leaders and Mentor Moms through the same training later. Agape Moms is all about multiplying disciples, who make disciples, just like Jesus did.

As the Founder of Agape Moms, I know this requires stepping out of your comfort zone because I’ve been there many times myself. Each time I’ve moved across the country, God has called me to launch a new chapter in the Tampa, Seattle and Nashville areas, even thought I felt inadequate and when it seemed impossible.
