Start An Agape Moms, One Prayerful Step at a Time

IMG_5569.JPG

This is a very rare #kidfreeselfie of me ALONE in my minivan last night. I’m still in awe of how God was working after an exciting, yet nerve-wracking meeting I had, and that many prayer over. Starting another Agape Moms has been something I’ve been praying about before I even moved here, and if anyone knows the amount of prayer and millions of God ordained steps it takes to start one, it’s me. I’ve already seen him do the impossible, which makes me believe he can and will do it again, in his time and according to his will.

I’ve only been in my new state of Washington for 7 months, but from day one I’ve been busy networking as I live on mission for Jesus and God has been placing people in my life in the craziest ways! Watch out how God will move when you pray big prayers according to his will (making disciples and sharing the gospel!), believing he will be faithful, and taking one step of faith at a time, waiting for God to lead and direct next.

Last night I met with some mamas who I’ve only recently met about starting an Agape Moms missional community together in our large and rapidly growing neighborhood. Not only were they onboard but one has committed to going through the training with me in the spring, and they even have more moms to connect me with!

What?!

Asking people I barley knew to meet with me so I could share about a ministry I started is intimidating to say the least. I was honestly so afraid that they’d change their mind or were just meeting with me to be nice. My heart waited for their let down speech at the end, “this sounds great, but I just can’t commit to something right now.” In anticipation of the meeting, I prayed so hard for weeks, and worshipped my face off in the car for the minutes leading up to the meeting, pleading with God to reach women with the gospel through Agape Moms, and that he would capture these moms hearts with the vision. My new home of WA is very unchurched and in desperate need of Jesus. I want you to know that it was totally out of my comfort zone to even message these 8 women, however, its been a long time since God allowed me to stay within my comfort zone, and I’m grateful for this because it only drives me to my knees more and allows me to see Him work in ways I couldn’t if I didn’t take risks for His glory.

My new friends here in WA were telling me that the need for a gospel-centered tribe like Agape Moms, where believing and not-yet believing women can gather together, is deeply needed, and they think it will explode because other bible studies have actually gone well in this area that is off the beaten path and rapidly growing with new construction. Believer or not, they come because people are desiring community so much. Our goal is to raise up and train multiple leaders in the spring because we will quickly max our home spaces since we include our kids in our family of God. So now we aren’t just starting one Agape Moms, but a network of them. I love how God’s vision is always bigger than mine!

I’m sharing this story God is writing because there’s still a chance this could all fail, or not work out the way I think it will. I’m sharing it because it’s so important to celebrate these small steps, not just launch day or numbers. I’m also sharing because I’m wondering if your neighborhood needs an Agape Moms too. I’m wondering if you’d be intimidated like me to first seek out new friends, and then ask them out for coffee to talk about Agape Moms, or about Jesus if they don’t know him yet! I’m also imagining what our communities across the globe would look like if more of us stepped out in faith and took risks for the sake of the gospel. You guys, it would be a different world! I’m convinced fear holds too many of us back, but it doesn’t have to anymore. Do you feel a burden for moms around you who don’t know Jesus or who need a place to connect with other believing moms?

Agape Moms equips you to make disciples seemlessly as you go about everyday, messy mom life. And our website can help you start an Agape Moms much more effectively than trying to start something on your own without help, training, resources, the launch packet and more. I’ve learned from a lot of mistakes, let me save you the trouble! After years of trial and error, countless hours of work and prayers, I have complied a training series for you right here on this website. Women have already used it and it has been super helpful to them. Also it is FREE. I’m so passionate about the need for more Agape Moms and God has burdened me so much, that I’m giving it all away with the vision of uniting all of our tribes on this website, on our community blog and with prayer support. You won’t be doing it alone, you’ll become part of our family network.

Agape Moms gatherings are families of God where women can first experience the Gospel on display in our love for each other, and as we open gospel centered studies, do life together in the highs and lows, our prayer is that many will come to experience what being a follower of Jesus looks like, and choose to surrender their lives to Christ, then join us in living on mission. We’re so much more than a weekly formal meeting, we do life together by organizing play dates, Moms night outs, celebrate babies, give meal trains, giveaway our baby gear like the early church would have done, and so much more. I’d love to tell you more, or visit our welcome page on this website, and then navigate the “Start an Agape Moms” drop down menu. Please reach out so I can help you along the way! I can’t wait to share the story God is writing with you on our blog someday in the future.
