It Doesn’t Depend on You, but on Your Dependence

Needed this one this morning. There is a beautiful tension in following Jesus, the intersection of chasing God-breathed dreams with our God-given talents, and finding our passion- but not without opposition and the need for God to equip us. When we discover our God-given passion and purpose it’s exciting, but don’t forget (like I do) that we NEED God to fill the gaps, and that He designed us to depend on Him every step of the way, that is why He gave us His Spirit.

It’s a wild ride of praying big prayers, taking steps of faith and living as if we are desperate for Jesus to come through. God keeps calling me out of the boat just when I think I see land. I wouldn’t trade it for a more comfortable life where I’m more in control, but gosh do I need to stay connected to Jesus, moment by moment, and deep in His Word every day. It doesn’t depend on us, but it depends on our dependence on HIM! Just think of just about every person in scripture, they lived this way, or the story is about how they failed to, and how God is always working on our behalf to draw us to Himself and inviting us to join Him on mission.

What about you? How does God use trials or challenges to build your dependence on Him instead of yourself? How have you seen Him come through in amazing ways? Share below!
